Mom, It’s Copying Me!

I saw this product in a mail-order catalogue today, and then found it featured at Geek Alerts.

A Chatimal is a stuffed animal programmed to repeat back whatever you say, but in a high, squeaky voice—apparently using the same technology as in this iPhone app.

Just the thing for people who miss sitting next to a younger sibling on long car trips.

Personally, I think a Chatimal would soon lose its charm.

Stop that!

Stop that!

What I remember from cross-country car trips of years ago are continual screams from the two boys in the back seat: "Stop! Stop imitating me!" Now parents can have the fun of this leitmotif with only one child. Delightful!
