Musings about some of my favorite fantasy literature for young readers, comics old and new, the peculiar publishing industry, the future of books, kids today, and the writing process.

Hmmmm, should I have one of these Spider-Man-endorsed fruit/cornsyrup pies or a salad?
Did any child ever actually make this? Even if they wanted to, their parents probably wouldn't have the ingredients.
I suspect the DC Comics cookbook was a classic auntie gift. As in, "What shall I send Jeremy for his birthday? All he seems to care about are comic books, but I'm certainly not going to buy him one of those. But here's a book with some characters I think he likes, and it promotes a healthy lifestyle. And I'm sure learning about tahihi will be very educational."
As for marketing directly to Jeremy, I also have an ad of Batman and Robin endorsing Hostess Fruit Pies.
Okay... So Robin doesn't know that food is prepared in the kitchen, not a laboratory? What, does Alfred guard that place with his life? Or has Bruce Wayne hired illegal immigrants to run it for him? Hmm... Something is up at the Wayne Mansion... Something... sinister...
Glad you liked the post! It was a tough time trying to select which pages to scan!
For those wishing to see the rest of it, not all, alas, Robin-centric try

Be warned though, sumu, scurrilous innuendo, double entendre and outright SINGLE entendre abounds at scans_daily.
:)
What about when Batman and Superman hawked Twinkies?
Thanks for the image and links! Visitors to scans_daily must certify that they can see "adult content," making links there more of a chore, alas.
Robin apparently didn't like Twinkies since he doesn't seem to have been on any of those short adventures with Batman.
Robin actually was in a few of the Hostess ads, helping Batman, as was his wont. Not his finest showings, but what the heck...

Thanks for the added links! I should have known that someone out there had made a library of Hostess superhero advertising.
