“Frequently Arrested Journalists”
This morning I got to read this in the New York Times:
The American military has frequently arrested journalists in Afghanistan and Iraq, holding them for long periods of time before releasing them without charges. So far as is known, no journalists have been convicted by a court on charges of working for insurgents either in Afghanistan or in Iraq.I would be much happier if the word “American” didn’t have to appear in the first sentence. Locking up journalists without charge is the sort of thing our nation should be standing against.
